The low FODMAP diet may appear at times to be deceptively simple. There are basic food lists and by and large the process appears to be straightforward. This is slightly deceptive. The Low FODMAP diet is best when you have the support of a Registered Dietitian.
We must state that we have no vested interests in recommending the assistance of a Dietitian. This site is written by sufferers who wish to help as many fellow IBS sufferers as possible. To that end we feel it our duty to supply the best information and advice that we can.
While it is true that you can undertake the Low FODMAP diet without a dietitian, you will run the risk of not gaining the full benefit of the diet. More importantly you will run the risk of damaging your health by practising a restrictive diet which lacks the balance required for optimum health.
The Low FODMAP diet will not work for all, however even if the Low FODMAP diet does not work for you, a good dietitian will be able to help you ensure that you have a well balanced diet. They will also be able to assist you with an elimination diet.
